Covid-19 has changed the narrative for almost everyone, especially the wedding and events industry. However, this pandemic has helped us, planners and industry creatives alike, foster a love for new wedding trends! Here are my top 4 things you will see most of in 2021.
1. Intimate Weddings - small, romantic and as luxurious as you want it to be, intimate weddings have made a huge splash and couples are jumping in head- first into the idea! Not only does an intimate wedding allow you to focus on having your most important family and friends as your guest, but because the number of guests is limited it allows you to shift your budget funds and splurge in areas that you may not have thought you could before. Here are the benefits:
a. The big, lush florals, luxury tables and chairs are right in your reach because you can allocate more money towards this area.
b. Surf n turf anyone? Feel free to live a little more with your food selection. Who wants to have chicken when you have the money in your budget to treat your guests to a wonderful filet mignon and delectable filet of salmon or lobster tail? (Assuming there are not allergies to shellfish!)
c. Photography plays a huge part in capturing your most perfect day and you want to hire the best of the best. Allocate some of your funds to an amazing photographer/videographer team that is going to tell
your story in the most perfect way.
2. Weekday Weddings - This is something that has become a norm across the country and will continue as long as couples have to continue to postpone their weddings. Covid has pushed couples to move their weddings to a different day, different year and venues are becoming overwhelmed with weekend weddings. Lots of couples have jumped on the trend of a weekday wedding. This has opened up a whole new opportunity for venues to gain revenue on a day Monday – Thursday, but it also leaves the couple stress free because they do not have to fight with other couples for the prime wedding days…Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can have a fabulous wedding on a Tuesday the same way you can on a Saturday and that may even save you a few bucks! Also, the vendors that you dream of using for your wedding likely have the availability to cater to your wedding because it’s during the week. Definitely something to think about while you’re planning your big day!
3. Color, Color and more Color!! – Pantone color institute has been selecting colors of the year for weddings for over 20 years. For 2021, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow are their colors of choice. These are two very beautiful colors together. Gray is a color that will never die. I mean, what will the grooms and groomsmen have to wear outside of a black, white or navy blue tux? No discredit to Pantone because this institute is absolutely amazing, but I’m going against the grain and saying bold bright colors will be the trend! Here are the colors I think we’ll see so much of this year: Definitely blush pink, more hot pink hues, reds, royal blue/navy blue, shades of orange and we’ll absolutely see shades of purple from lilac to violet. All of these will be complimented with gold accents for sure! 2020 was such a drab year for us that I think couples will choose colors that scream exciting and fun. Even if it’s just a touch of a color.
4. Personalized Welcome or Send off Kits – For this kit, it will be all about the details! Wedding guests should expect a gift filled with the essentials needed to stay safe and celebrate responsibly – personalized bottles of hand sanitizers, masks and hand wipes. The kit will can serve your guests on the day of the event and thereafter. I hope if you are having an intimate wedding in the Covid-19 environment, that you will take the proper precautions and provide a good basket like this for your guests!
I hope these tips will help you get a feel for what weddings are going to look like this year. If you need some planning help, we’re here for you. Feel free to contact us!
