Engagement season is among us friends! Although couples get engaged all year around, the timeframe from Thanksgiving all the way through Valentine’s Day is considered engagement season and proposals are taking place! When couples get engaged, it should be a time to celebrate with family and friends. Who said there is a rush to start planning? Don’t stress and overwhelm yourself with planning right away! Here are a few tips on how to enjoy your engagement before you begin to plan:
1. After you’ve sealed your engagement and have announced it to your family and friends, just enjoy receiving all of the “ congratulations” and “We’re so happy for you” compliments as much as you can. 9 times out of 10, they have been waiting for this moment for you so allow them to shower you both with love and adoration.
2. Take a mini vacation/staycation. While you are planning your wedding, I can guarantee private moments will be few and far between! If you plan to have at least a year long engagement, that year is going to be filled with so much activity such as meeting and booking vendors, attending appointments with your wedding party, making selection after selection from the perfect dress to the right bakery, it can all become so overwhelming at times. Taking some time for the two of you will be just what the doctor ordered! Hop a flight or book a hotel stay away from all of the hustle and bustle! This will give you the opportunity to clear your minds and charge up before planning.
3. Lastly, slow down and enjoy the process! It’s not a race to get every single detail planned in a few months. I tell my clients this..let’s get the venue booked, then everything else will pretty much fall into place. Once you have set a wedding date, hire a wedding planner and go over a timeline of duties. Your planner will help keep you on task and on time. Unless you have decided to get married two or three months after the engagement, allow yourself time to plan effectively.
The engagement period is so special. It’s a time to embrace the fact that soon enough you’ll be someone’s wife or husband! Enjoy your engagement as much as you can because once the planning starts there’s not stopping until the big day!
Fabulously yours,
